A young woman goes to jail to get clean…this is what it means to go to any lengths to get sober! Although the story is sad for a lot of reasons, the resolve and willingness of this young lady is truly remarkable.
A 25-year-old woman in Ohio wanted to get clean. She tried reaching out to treatment centers but was told that there was a three-month wait. She watched friend after friend die of heroin overdoses. Instinct and fear told her she was next. At her court appearance for possession of drugs, she asked the judge to put her in jail for 30 days so that she could detox and be clean without all the outside influences hampering her. Her possession charge may not have warranted time in jail, but she “asked” for it!
She figured that if she couldn’t get into treatment, jail was the next best option. Going to jail and going through the roller coaster ride of detox from heroin is not an easy task. But she’s doing it.
Whether it’s Ohio, California, or Pennsylvania we are reading about these stories every day. Finding a heroin rehab in Pennsylvania can also be a difficult task for some. Limited amounts of beds in treatment centers coupled with insurance issues are leaving many people without the treatment they need.

Our detox is combined with a 28-day program that teaches about addiction and how to cope with life on life’s terms without needing to get high.
