Celebrating the 4th of July With Clearbrook

The 4th of July and recovery from addiction share the same ideals. When we are in active addiction we are slaves; dependent and held captive by drugs and alcohol. Addiction keeps us trapped in a self-perpetuating state of being restless, irritable, and discontent. Once we enter into recovery we are beginning to become independent ourselves.

The city of Seattle is planning on launching what is become a very controversial subject. The People’s Harm Reduction Alliance is planning on opening places that heroin addicts can go and “safely inject heroin.” [...] This is not a form of treatment. This is purely harm reduction.

Meth Lab Busted in Dallas PA

Crystal meth is literally in our backyards in Luzerne County. Yesterday on Church St in Dallas PA, a meth lab was discovered and destroyed by federal and local authorities. A warrant was served and three suspects were arrested and now face a litany of felony charges that should result in lengthy prison sentences.

Classified as one of the “designer drugs” on the street today, bath salt abuse has increased by 1000% from two years ago. Poison control centers in the U.S. have reported that in 2010, 304 people sought help from the use of these chemicals, and then in 2013, more than 6,138 calls came in.

There is a new prescription drug that has come on the market and for the addict its effects are going to be deadly. Zohydro is the name and this pill is 5-10 times more potent than hydrocodone (Vicoden). The risk of drug abusers overdosing on this new medication is extremely high.
