Addiction Psychotherapy Services

Addiction affects individuals both physically and psychologically. Not only can drugs like cocaine and meth impact a person’s physical appearance and health, but they can also contribute to the onset of mental health problems like psychosis, depression, and anxiety. What’s more, many individuals turn to drug and alcohol abuse to cope with mental health issues, which often leads to a co-occurring disorder. Our Clearbrook rehab locations offer addiction psychotherapy services that offer step-by-step support to support individuals battling with substance abuse and aid them in their recovery.

Generally, utilizing psychotherapy for substance abuse plays a vital role in the treatment and recovery of individuals battling drug and alcohol addiction. Clearbrook’s Addiction Therapy Services

There are several different types of psychotherapy that may work better with certain clinical situations. Psychotherapy can also be used in tandem with medication or other therapy services to support overall improvement.

Clearbrook Treatment Centers offers multiple forms of psychotherapy for addiction to clients undergoing residential care to aid in their long-term recovery. Below is more information on these services and how they support sobriety.

12-Step Program

Founded by Alcoholics Anonymous, the 12-Step Program was initially created to help patients receiving alcohol addiction treatment in their recovery. It has since been expanded to help individuals recover from all kinds of substance abuse disorders.

At both Clearbrook Massachusetts and Clearbrook Pennsylvania, one of our special programs and therapies is the 12-Step Program, an addiction therapy program with an underlying spiritual tone that promotes healing and making amends with others who may have been impacted by the addiction.

Art Therapy

Another one of our effective special programs and therapies is our art therapy. This rehab program utilizes art for communication and self-evaluation during the recovery process.

Substance abuse disorders are difficult to recover from and often have underlying emotional and mental facets that must be addressed. It can sometimes be difficult for patients to express their thoughts and feelings in words, so we encourage them to express themselves through art instead.

Art therapy for addiction is a therapeutic approach that utilizes the creative process of making art to help individuals identify the contributing factors of their drug-taking behavior and how best to manage sobriety. Grounded in psychological and clinical principles and administered by trained art therapists, Clearbrook’s art therapy offers benefits like self-exploration, emotional release, improved self-esteem, increased mindfulness, and more.

Addiction Counseling

Many people assume that addiction treatment is just focused on the physical effects of substance abuse, but it involves much more than that. Healing from addiction is a multi-step process that requires in-depth treatment. One of the comprehensive addiction psychotherapy services offered at both our locations is addiction counseling.

Patients in addiction counseling will be assigned to one of our certified counselors to promote emotional healing. Patients will have one-on-one therapy sessions with their counselors, during which they can discuss the impact of addiction and the thoughts and emotions behind their disease.

Biofeedback

Biofeedback is one of our most special rehab programs. Biofeedback is a therapeutic technique that is used to treat various ailments like anxiety, ADHD, chronic pain, and more. It teaches patients how to identify and manage physiological functions associated with their addiction.

Although heart rate, sweating, breathing, and body temperature are involuntary functions, patients in biofeedback therapy can learn how to control these functions when they’re stressed, anxious, or agitated. This form of addiction therapy incorporates a machine called a serenity bed. Patients lay down on the serenity bed, which then uses auditory and visual cues to help them relax. This is one of our most effective methods of therapy to help patients relax when they become anxious during addiction treatment.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is a common therapy technique used in addressing the emotional and mental underlying causes of addiction. The goal of our CBT program is to help patients identify the negative thoughts contributing to their addiction and learn how to cope with them. This rehab program is centered on discovering negative thoughts and emotions that lead to self-destructive behavior, like an addiction. Our trained therapists also utilize CBT to help patients realize any denial regarding their problems.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Similar to CBT, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) is a psychological treatment approach focused on helping patients recognize emotions linked to their addiction and how to cope with them. Drug and alcohol dependence is as much mental as they are physical, and oftentimes, it’s the psychological grip of addiction that’s harder to break free from. Our DBT incorporates licensed therapists who can help patients identify their emotional ties to addiction and how to cut them.

Corporate Recovery Program

Another one of our successful rehab therapy programs is our corporate recovery program. This is a unique rehab program that helps employers get employees the addiction treatment they need. When a boss or employer realizes that one of their team members engages in substance abuse, it can be difficult to maneuver.

As an employer, you may not want to remove that employee from your company, but you also want that individual to get healthy and maintain their productivity in the workplace. At our Clearbrook facilities, we offer a corporate recovery program that is designed to help employers get their employees the help they need to get sober.

LGBTQ Addiction Treatment

Individuals in the LGBTQ+ community face additional obstacles that members outside of this group may not understand. The people who make up this community must often cope with societal and physical obstacles that can be stressful.

Although addiction does not discriminate, individuals in the LGBTQ+ community struggle with substance abuse at a higher rate than most other groups. One study concluded that individuals in this community were 90% more likely to engage in substance abuse than heterosexual adolescents.1

Because of the stressors they often deal with in their lives, they may turn to drugs or alcohol as a way to cope. At our rehab centers, we offer an LBGTQ addiction treatment program that is designed to help meet the individual needs of LGBTQ+ community members.

Alumni Program

Because addiction recovery doesn’t end when rehab does, we offer our alumni additional support. Our alumni program is offered to patients who have completed at least one form of addiction treatment at our Northeast addictions treatment center. We understand that it can be intimidating and even scary to continue addiction recovery outside of rehab, but we’ve got your back!
