Deadly Heroin

There is a deadly batch of heroin going around that directly impacts the people in our communities in the northeast. In Camden, New Jersey, there have been more than two dozen overdoses reported in less than 24 hours.

Camden Metro Police Chief Scott Thompson said, “Right now we know that there is something out there that’s putting people in near death situations.”  Over the past few years we have seen alerts like this in every state in our country.  Without fail, the cause of these overdoses is because the heroin that is being sold on the streets contains fentanyl.  Fentanyl is an opiate that is 50 times more powerful than other opioids.

One piece that they do not have yet is what “stamp” is on the bags.  Bags of heroin often times come with a stamp on it that differentiates it from other batches.  When there are this many overdoses from one particular batch it has the potential to reach other geographic areas.  That means that people in cities like New York, Philadelphia, and Scranton could possibly get sold this deadly batch.

Should you have any specific information on this brand of heroin being sold you can call in a tip anonymously.  The phone number for the Camden Police Department is 856.757.7042. If you or someone you know needs heroin addiction treatment, contact us today.
