With stay-at-home orders in place and time to kill, many people are starting to get creative with how they are spending their free time. Activities range from 300-piece jigsaw puzzles to creating videos for TikTok. Because social distancing is a must, people are getting social online, and one of the new up-and-coming trends is virtual happy hours with friends.

The Best Virgin Drink Recipes for Quarantine

Just because you went through an alcohol detox and are now sober doesn’t mean you have to feel left out.  As a recovering alcoholic, you can still use these times to connect with friends and family. Because you may seem a little out of place without a drink in your hand, our alcohol rehab in PA is sharing some virgin coronavirus drinks, so you can join the party without sacrificing your sobriety.

Virgin Spiced Apple Quarantini

You may have seen posts shared online about various quarantini recipes. You can now join the fun with this nonalcoholic quarantine mocktail. While the classic martini is mostly gin and vermouth, you can get creative. Pull out a martini glass and try this spiced virgin apple martini from the Food Network. You will need sugar, lemon juice, apple juice, and sparkling apple cider. Cinnamon sticks, candied ginger, gingersnap cookies, and apple wedges can be used as garnish or to accompany this delicious treat.

Non-Alcoholic Shirley Temple

Your at-home ingredients may be running low, and a trip to the grocery store might be out of the question for now. If that happens to be the case, try this non-alcoholic coronavirus drink. You only need ice, lemon-lime soda, and grenadine. The maraschino cherries are, of course, the traditional garnish, but if you have to skip them, the drink will still taste delicious.

While virtual happy hour and quarantine mocktails can be fun, it may not be for everyone in recovery. Especially if you are in early recovery or the coronavirus quarantine has left you feeling strong alcohol cravings, it may be best to skip them to avoid feeling more triggered. Instead, focus on being active in your sobriety and connecting with friends and family outside of virtual happy hour. If you do relapse, that is okay, but get help before matters get worse.

Our rehab center in Scranton is here to help everyone from the person who recently relapsed to the person who is looking to take their first step to sobriety. Don’t sit by and let a substance abuse problem get worse.
