Zohydro is the name and this pill is 5-10 times more potent than hydrocodone (Vicoden). They are also manufacturing this drug without the use of acetaminophen (Tylenol) that we see in other pain medications.

OxyContin is the most widely abused prescription drug. After people started abusing the drug by snorting it, the pharmaceutical companies put controls on the pill itself so that it could not be crushed and taken intra-nasally. Zohydro is not being introduced to the market this way, although they say it is being worked on to have a control put on the pill so that it can’t be ground down into powder and sniffed or injected. When opiate pain medications are abused they often times result in overdose and death.
