Clearbrook Treatment Centers offers Pennsylvania addiction treatment for various kinds of substance abuse disorders. Our programs not only incorporate medically supervised detox for addressing withdrawal symptoms, but they also incorporate different therapy modalities to address the emotional and psychological stressors associated with substance use and recovery. No matter how long you or a loved one has battled drug or alcohol abuse, we’re here to help. Below is more on our treatment programs.

What Is Addiction?

Otherwise referred to as a substance use disorder, addiction is defined by tolerance, physical dependence, and an inability to control one’s drug or alcohol use. Addiction doesn’t occur all at once but instead develops over time as a result of chronic and heavy substance abuse. The initial sign of substance abuse is usually tolerance.

Tolerance is when an individual’s body has become accustomed to a particular dose or quantity of a substance to the point where the individual needs to increase their doses or frequency of use to feel the same effects. This increase in use contributes to physical dependence, which is marked by withdrawal symptoms whenever the person cuts back on or stops their substance use.

Withdrawal symptoms may vary in intensity and duration depending on the substance in question. Substances that are recognized for producing uncomfortable and sometimes life-threatening withdrawal symptoms include alcohol, benzodiazepines, and opioids. Withdrawals can be so challenging that an individual may return to using drugs or drinking simply to avoid them.

This can lead to a difficult cycle of quitting and using, which may impact not only the person’s health but also their likelihood of getting and remaining sober. As we previously mentioned, a formal addiction or substance use disorder is a mental disorder that affects a person’s mind and behavior, leading to an inability to control the use of drugs or alcohol.

To be diagnosed with a substance use disorder, an individual must meet certain criteria:

  • Cravings to use the substance
  • Wanting to cut down on drug or alcohol use but not managing to do so
  • Taking the substance in larger amounts or for longer than intended (mostly in cases of prescription drug use)
  • Neglecting other areas of their life because of substance abuse, such as work, school, or family
  • Continuing to use drugs or alcohol even when it causes problems in their relationships (including separation and divorce)
  • Using substances even when it puts them or others in danger (such as driving under the influence)

Each type of substance use disorder comes with its unique set of warning signs and symptoms. For instance, people who are addicted to opioids or other prescription drugs may go from doctor to doctor for more prescriptions or lie about certain ailments to get more pills. If you believe someone is struggling with drug or alcohol use, remain vigilant. If you’re the one who needs help, our Pennsylvania rehab is here for you.

Our PA Rehab Center for Addiction Treatment

Our facility offers a variety of treatment programs to address all kinds of substance abuse disorders. These individual programs are held on our residential level of care, which requires that patients live on-site to be separated from common triggers and distractions like old drinking buddies, unsupportive family members, and stressful situations.

Residential care is best suited for individuals with severe addictions, as they usually require medical detox. Detoxification is a crucial step in the recovery process and is normally the first for patients joining our residential rehab.

Not only do we offer levels of care like medical detox and residential treatment, but our Pennsylvania addiction treatment services also include substance-specific treatment programs. Our drug and alcohol rehab programs treat addictions related to substances like:

  • Alcohol
  • Bath Salts
  • Benzos
  • Cocaine
  • Ecstasy
  • Heroin
  • Marijuana
  • Methamphetamine
  • Opioids
  • Prescription Pills
  • Synthetic Marijuana

We also offer rehab for pregnant women, relapse prevention services, and Suboxone treatment. These programs are beneficial because they treat underlying issues related to specific substances. These programs, combined with our medical detox treatment and therapies, can help patients recover both mentally and physically from their substance use disorders.

The nature of treatment that patients receive will depend on the severity of their drug use and their individual needs. Treatment plans are determined based on a clinical assessment conducted by our treatment team. These assessments ask clients about their medical history, whether they have a mental illness, past attempts at detox or treatment, and more, to determine the form of care they require.

Special Programs and Therapies at Clearbrook

Addiction is often a result of trauma, grief, loss, and attachment (emotional) wounds that they’ve been through. Some may not even remember these events or understand their impact. Trauma and emotional distress are often the underlying contributors to drug and alcohol use, as people may use these substances as coping mechanisms.

Considering the connection between mental health and addiction, we believe it’s crucial for our patients to receive not only physical care – such as detox – but also specialized care for their mental and emotional healing. As part of our addiction and behavioral health services, we also include a variety of special programs and therapies in patients’ treatment plans. These therapies include:

  • 12-Step Meetings
  • Art Therapy
  • Addiction Counseling
  • Alumni Program
  • Biofeedback
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Corporate Recovery
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
  • LGBTQ Addiction Treatment
  • Motivational Interviewing

These addiction therapy programs are meant to supplement patients’ rehab programs by addressing the behavioral and psychological patterns related to their substance use disorders. Addiction is linked to negative and self-destructive thinking and behavioral patterns, so addressing these issues is crucial for achieving long-lasting sobriety.

PA Drug Addiction Help

Our behavioral health and addiction services were created with patients’ personal struggles and goals in mind. We wanted to formulate rehab programs that offered optimal support, care, and compassion to patients to make sobriety a reality. Not only do we focus on treating the physical aftermath of substance abuse, such as withdrawal symptoms and drug cravings, but we also utilize therapeutic modalities to ensure clients’ mental health problems are addressed.
